'STARGREY' Oxidized, Citrine/Bali Bead
$110.00

Description:

The Pendant :  I started with the beautiful solid sterling Stargrey pendant, oxidizing it in soft shades of dove gray and charcoal to give it that old world feel then I attached it to an intricate Bali style sterling/citrine pendant and for a final touch added an incredibly detailed, hand made, sterling Bali Bead
The solid sterling pendant measures 1.75 " from the top of the curlicue attachment to it's bottom and has a 3mm depth and is 1" wide. The total length of the pendant from the top of the Bali bail to the bottom of the bead dangle is 4.5"

The Chain: I used a high quality 18" 2mm Italian snake chain, that I also oxidized to compliment the pendant.

ABOUT THE PENDANT:
I have long admired the work of Artist Cathy Hoynes of www.greyhoundstudies.com and I absolutely loved working with her on this project. Kathy seemed to 'get it' immediately when I asked her to come up with a greyhound drawing that incorporated a starfish somewhere in the image.

Kathy really outdid herself with the breathtaking image she presented to me, which we have now dubbed 'STARGREY'.
With no revisions necessary, I immediately had the image cast in sterling silver and suspended in a slightly twisted sterling oval and topped with a substantial curlicue bail.

I am thrilled to introduce this original artwork keepsake Greyhound pendant with it's elegant swirling S shape head and neck and curly starfish anchoring the base.

WHAT IS THE GREYHOUND STARFISH CONNECTION?

Those familiar with greyhound adoption may also be aware of the starfish poem and how it relates to the mindset of those who adopt these elegant, gorgeous, deserving, hounds.
My inspiration for these jewelry pieces stems from my personal identification with the poem.

The Starfish Poem

As I walked along the seashore
This young boy greeted me.
He was tossing stranded starfish
Back to the deep blue sea.
I said, "Tell me why you bother,
Why you waste your time this way.
There's a million stranded starfish
Does it matter, anyway?"

And he said, "It matters to this one.
It deserves a chance to grow.
It matters to this one.
I can't save them all I know.
But it matters to this one,
I'll return it to the sea.
It matters to this one,
And it matters to me."
