The Pendant : Simply beautiful, the silver plated oxidized turquoise stone cross pendant has a very cool detachable bail which allows you to wear the necklace with or weithout the cross...Just love that feature. Pendant measures 2 1/2" (65mm)
The Necklace: I strung three strands of beads together going from larger to smaller beads on the shotrtest to longest strings for a fabulous layered effect. The colors of the large yellow fire agate beads on the shortest string were the inspiration for this piece. Gorgeous shades of yellow amber, bright teal and browns mix together with a cool frosted/matt finish. I had never seen these big 30mm, organically shaped beads before and when I found them on a recent buying trip to the US I went crazy trying to find just the right way to showcase and combine them with other beads.I ADORE the way this turned out and could see it going with so many easy breezy summer dresses or even jeans and tee...Very Boho Chic!
The next two strands are a combination of oval yellow/green jade, free form Arizona turquoise nuggets, smaller round yellow fire agate spacers, faceted Chinese turquoise rondells, rare and uniquely colored AAA serpentine faceted rondelle, and picasso Czech glass beads.
The bead strands range from 15 - 20"
The Closure: A sterling ornate silver Bali 3 strand hook closure
Agate is the birthstone of June. No gemstone is more creatively striped by Nature than agate, chalcedony quartz that forms in concentric layers in a wide variety of colors and textures. Each individual agate forms by filling a cavity in host rock. As a result, agate is often found as a round nodule, with concentric bands like the rings of a tree trunk. The bands sometimes look like eyes, fanciful scallops, or even a landscape with trees. Agate was highly valued as a talisman or amulet in ancient times. It was said to quench thirst and protect against fever. Persian magicians used agate to divert storms.
